FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY

Each piece that I create starts the same way- as an idea. I draw my inspiration from the world around me, whether the source is nature, architecture, or even other forms of art. My sketching process varies depending on the idea. for some pieces I make detailed sketches, while for others I throw together an inspiration photo collage and go straight to modeling.  In my sketches, I experiment with different layouts, stones, and designs, then I choose the best of the bunch and move on to modeling.

A majority of the pieces I create are 3D modeled in a CAD program called Zbrush, printed in wax, and cast. 3D modeling gives me the freedom to create complex organic shapes with extreme detail. I typically gravitate towards a more sculptural avant-garde style in my work. Once I have completed my 3D model, I make a variety of test prints in resin to test out the size and style of the design, then it's on to casting.

A majority of my pieces are cast in solid sterling silver. The next step really depends on the individual piece. Most of my pieces involve classic bench processes such as soldering and stone setting, all of which I do from my home studio. The last step, and the longest, is finishing. It is important to me that the surface of each piece I create is finished to perfection.

I am extremely passionate about what I do. My priority in creating jewelry is to make things that are beautiful, unique, and well-crafted. I want people to connect personally with my work, and I want my customers to be able to pass down my pieces through generations.
